Design and Meaning
This new copper gorget design by Paul-René is hand wrought using chasing and repoussé techniques to create a three-dimensional design. It features the Thunderbeings (Padôgiyik), who help keep the world in balance and bring snow and lightning.
The turtle (Tolba), sits at the center of the cuff. Turtles—including those made by Paul-René—have 13 squares across the top of the shell, representing the 13 new moons each year. They also have 28 small squares around the outer edge of the shell, forming a calendar. Tolba represents this continent.
The stamped double-curve designs include the symbol of the fiddlehead fern, the first plant to emerge in spring. This symbol reminds us that spring is coming and represents new growth, resilience, and hope for the future. Each piece is signed with the Sunrise Drum trademark.

- Necklace materials: Shell hairpipes, green glass beads, and copper beads.
- Attachment: Handmade buttons secure the necklace to the gorget.
