Turtles represent our earth and our calendar with the 13 moons (12 months in between the moons) found on the turtle’s back. The Turtle is also our North American land – the great Turtle Island ‘Tolba Menahan’ in Abenaki. Inside the turtle is the heartbeat that is so strong to sustain our planets life. It is said that a turtle’s heart beats a long time even after it is killed. The double curves and “fiddle head” medicine ‘Mide’ plant designs become canoes traveling around carrying the healing plants to help protect. The back is secured with a high-grade jeweler’s epoxy – stronger than solder on this type of repoussé hand chased work. See our other design bolos – we have several turtles in stock.
