Dentaliam or “tusk shells” have been used as “money”, to decorate clothing, and by Northwest Coastal Indigenous people in jewelry. Remembering our time in the Northwest, Paul René made this necklace dentalium shell necklace. The necklace is 17″ long including the shell, which is 2″. The vintage multi-color Peking beads are from Chinese sewing baskets.
