Rattlesnake Zuni Fetish of Pipestone signed by Adrian Cachini Zuni NM (see last photo). The markings of a rattle on the tail and a feather, along with other designs can be seen clearly. The fetish is 1 & 3/4″H and 2″L with tail stretched out. Pipestone can only be quarried by Native American Indians, and is found only in Pipestone, Minnesota (https://www.nps.gov/pipe/index.htm). It is open to many tribes. Catlinite/pipestone is a signature material for this artist. The snake is associated with lightening and guards the wisdom of the earth. It reminds us of renewal and transformation from old to new.
