Description
Antique Huron Moose hair embroidery scissor or mirror case from the 1800s. This case was handmade with brain-tan hide. It is in great shape with one small split on the front flap of the case. Moose hair flowers and leaves are embroidered on the front and it is wrapped on the seam, holding the two parts together. There is no decoration on the back (see picture 5). Moose hair embroidery was done in Indigenous peoples in the US and Canada. For more information, here is a link to Frank Speck’s article from 1911 about moose hair embroidery.
