Handmade Porcupine Quill Hatband Blue and White – Yellow and Red Beading

Description

Porcupine quilled hatband with Blue & White with Yellow & Red designs (beading). It is 3/4″ wide and 19.5″ length. The leather ties are approximately 8″. This band is  lined. Traditional Native American decorative technique. Individual porcupine quills are cleaned, dyed, flattened, and hand sewn into one another and wrapped on leather.

The quill work is very well done by a Mayan Indigenous artist using old style designs. We provided the designs. The knowledge of how to do this embroidery is the same technique carried on traditionally for some Mayan artists.
