Description

This white oak splint Cherokee Basket was made by Carol Welch (1940 – 2023). She was a master weaver of white oak and river cane. Walnut was used to dye the splints and is in a fish bone pattern.  The signature card is still attached to the basket.  There is no damage to the basket. The basket is 6.5 top diameter,  6.5″ bottom square, 9.5″ high.  Carol was a member of the Qualla Arts and Crafts Mutual of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians.  Check out our other baskets.
