Description

The Haudenosaunee are a matrilineal society, in this system each clan links through a female ancestor all descend from. Women hold leadership roles within the clan. Family names are kept within each clan and are passed down to children born into the clan or adopted. The clans are divided into the three elements: water, land and air. The bear, deer & wolf represent land; turtle, eel & beaver represent the waters; and the snipe, hawk and heron represent the air. This book, with a forward by Tom Porter, covers many aspects of the Haudenosaunee clan system. This one for sale is a copy I purchased sometime in the past and have kept it well… in great shape clean with little wear in corners. 58 pages.
